Clerihews

In honor of Clerihew Day, I thought I would start a thread for this wonderful little form of poetry. The format is simple, four lines with the first line containing the name of a person. The first and second lines end in a rhyme as do the third and fourth. The objective of the little ditty is to be humorous. I'll start with my poor attempt.

John Ronald Tolkien
With words made a scene.
With characters full of grit
Though never of poor Figwit.

- Yaralindi

CLERIHEWS???

"What fun!"

VIGGO PETER MORTENSEN
For whom so many have a yen
Of whom, oh millions, must have dreamt
Unwashed, unshaven, most unkempt

( OUR HERO!)
- Ringwraith-Wife

Gamgee Blues

My master’s got a gold Ring
Oh Woe! He’s got a nasty Ring of gold
Gonna get us both kilt before we’re old!

I know what my Gaffer would say
Oh, yes… I can tell you what my ol’ Gaffer’d say
He’d take a ‘tater over a gold Ring any day!

Whoa-oh!

Legolas Greenleaf, handsome Elf
I want him all to myself
But I must share him with our Din
Wait! I think that might be a sin

- Strange Elf

Some for the Board Family... not to be confused with the Bored Family....

Green-leaves lovin' Strange Elf
Out in the desert by herself,
She would flee all that brown and stubby,
But she really loves her hubby.

Ringwraith-Wife,
With creativity rife,
Such a multi-talent dame,
Makes the rest of us look lame.

Confetti-toting Dinledhwen
With quiet, cheery whisperin'
When this life seems dull or crass,
She dreams of bein' with Adulas.

Yaralindi, Uber-Sam,
Need script-writin'? He's da man!
He may drift, but not apart -
Cheery smile and generous heart.

I wrote a bunch of these last night when I was having computer problems... thank you YARALINDI!

MIRANDA OTTO
For "V" was blotto
Until at last it all came clear
Her true love was Faramir.

LIV TYLER'S love was Aragorn
To kingly duties he was born
He needed her right by his side
His lovely, steadfast, Elven Bride

SIR IAN McKELLEN
So what will we dwell on?
His GANDALF iconic?
His talent Byronic?

GORBAG
Snotrag
So lumpen
Was dumpen

BILLY BOYD sang for Faramir
In a voice so sweet and clear
That wasn't heard by Denethor
Who just kept eating, more and more

SALA BAKER
Mover, shaker
He was our favorite "stunty"
So tall he is (well gosh, gee whiz) he makes us all look runty

PETER JACKSON
Paragon, NZ son
He wanders with bare feetsies
The films he makes are treatsies

SEAN ASTIN (he played Samwise)
A hobbit dressed in elf-guise
He helped his Frodo "do" the Ring
And then was bowed to by a king

ELIJAH WOOD
My, he was good
When he played darling FRODO
( Those eyes, like lanterns, would beam out if he played Quasimodo.)

Would you believe there's MORE?
